PSN Outages!? Sony guys rebuilding system for additional security

As most of you know but for those who don't, the Playstation Network aka PSN has been down for a few days already due to problems... well there have been no answers.

Some say that this is the doing of the hacking group "Anonymous" in which they claim that they never had anything to do it. Others say that the problem lies with the main server in Japan.. well who know's...

As it currently stands, millions of PS3 gamers cannot access the service which is crucial for most PS3 titles, if not super important for anyone who has purchased the games that just came out this week.

The Uk PSN site has updated us on the problem and they had this to say!

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

So there you have it, new system means less downtime and is obviously a good thing but for the time taken for it to happen, it means no PS3 users can make use of the online functionalites of their games + developers that were planning to use the Playstation Network to release their titles are losing out.

What do you guys think about the new system and if it's worth the wait?
