So Nintendo held a short and I mean short direct to discuss what's next for Pokemon, and here are the highlights.
The Pokemon Direct which went live earlier this week is roughly 8 mins long and discuses the future of the Pokemon franchise for pretty much the rest of 2017.
To kick things off Pokken Tournament will be seeing a release on the Nintendo Switch in Pokken Tournament DX! Just before this however they did mention that there will be a Pokemon game coming to the hardware and that Pokken was just the first.
I may be reading way too much into it or there will actually be a dedicated Pokemon title for Nintendo Switch in the future? Regardless just like with Mario Kart 8, the Deluxe or DX version of Pokken Tournament will include 5 additional Pokemon, along with being able to do 3 vs 3 battles, online ranked matches and creating groups with friends.
Pokken Tournament DX is currently slated to be released on September 22nd, however I'm sure we'll see some more of it at E3 2017!
Next announcement was Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, a retelling of the story which takes place in the same world. You will also find new Pokemon which didn't appear in the previous version, along with additional elements which unfortunately they didn't expand on at this stage.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is set to be released on November 17th!
Finally this autumn, Pokemon Gold and Silver will be seeing a release on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. The game will also be compatible with Pokemon Bank and will be released on the same day as Pokken Tournament DX.
That's all for the short, but sweet Pokemon Direct. Were you happy with the announcements or hoping to see more from the series at E3?
